[[Tell us about yourself and what you do for GE]]
[Hi, I'm James and I lead New Media Technology for GE. ]
[For us, New Media Technology is taking things to the next level.]
[And one way we do that is through data visualization. ]
[So, instead of building traditional web applications]
[through Java and PHP, we build applications]
[that create compelling and engaging experiences for the user. ]
[We also build mobile applications for the Blackberry. ]
[We've been doing it for about 2 years. ]
[We have over 16 applications and a whole suite]
[We're focusing on the android next, and the iPhone. ]
[We do Enterprise search, so we power the search ]
[across the company, across their external and internal portals. ]
[We also focus on emerging technologies. ]
[So really understanding what's out there in the marketplace,]
[what the leading universities are working on, ]
[and what some of those global boutique firms are]
[producing that might be interesting and compelling ]
[ultimately for a GE product line. ]
[[What is it like to be in IT within GE?]]
[Being in IT and, specifically, ]
[technology within GE has just been]
[GE's working on some of the most challenging and important projects]
[of our lifetime, and to have an opportunity to partake]
[But also, our colleagues are some of the most fun, smart, talented ]
[people that you could work alongside.]
[So to be able to have the opportunity to work on really engaging projects]
[[When you are not at GE, what are you up to?]]
[So, when I'm not at GE I love to research, ]
[I stay active, exercise, and travel. ]
[And just spend good, quality time with friends and family.]
