John F. Welch retired in September of 2001 after 40 years with General Electric - more than 20 as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO. Today's GE is driven by the values and behaviors he taught: mutual trust based on absolute integrity, and the unending, insatiable, 'boundaryless' thirst for the world's best ideas and best people. We are enormously grateful for his service.
